Animal cloning

A decision that deserves clear information.

Cloning makes it possible to produce a new animal with the same nuclear genetic information as the original, from its preserved cells. It is a separate service from preservation and is assessed case by case.

Each case requires a specific assessment: species, condition of the preserved cells and objectives.

By species

Choose a species to learn about the process.

For those who want to carry on a very special bond.

Cat looking at the camera

For companion, pedigree or breeding cats of special value.

To preserve sport and breeding bloodlines.

How it's done

The cloning process.

An assisted reproduction technique that combines biotechnology with rigorous scientific control.

01

Donor cells. The process starts with your animal’s previously preserved cells.

02

Nuclear transfer. The nucleus of one of those cells is placed into an egg cell whose own nucleus has been removed.

03

Embryo development. The embryo is cultured in the laboratory under controlled conditions.

04

Pregnancy and birth. The embryo is transferred to a surrogate female, who carries the pregnancy to term.

In all honesty

What cloning can and cannot offer.

What it can offer

What it cannot offer

Before cloning, preserve.

Cloning is only possible with viable cells from the animal. That is why genetic preservation is always the first step, and it can be done today, while the animal is healthy.

Animal welfare at every stage

We follow veterinary and laboratory procedures focused on the welfare of every animal involved in the process, including the surrogate female. We explain each stage before you make any decision.

Your questions answered

Frequently asked questions about cloning

No. A clone shares the original’s nuclear genetic information and usually looks very similar, but it is a new individual: it does not have the original’s memories, and its character is shaped by its own life.

Yes. Cloning starts from viable cells from the animal. If you have not preserved them yet, that is the first step.

Cloning is priced on request, because it depends on the species and on each case. We will give you personalised information.

No. It is a complex technique and each case requires a specific assessment. We explain the possibilities honestly before you make any decision.
