Horse cloning

Science in service of a unique legacy.

Horse cloning makes it possible to produce a new horse with the same nuclear genetic information as the original: a way to preserve exceptional bloodlines.

Applications

An option for the present and the future.

Cloning opens up possibilities in equine breeding, especially for animals of exceptional genetic, sporting or breeding value.

High-value horses

Sport, breeding or valuable bloodlines.

Preserving bloodlines

Keeping exceptional genetics available.

How it's done

The cloning process.

An assisted reproduction technique that combines biotechnology with rigorous scientific control.

01

Donor cells. The process starts with your horse’s previously preserved cells.

02

Nuclear transfer. The nucleus of one of those cells is placed into an egg cell whose own nucleus has been removed.

03

Embryo development. The embryo is cultured in the laboratory under controlled conditions.

04

Pregnancy and birth. The embryo is transferred to a surrogate mare, who carries the pregnancy to term.

In all honesty

What cloning can and cannot offer.

What it can offer

What it cannot offer

Animal welfare at every stage

We follow veterinary and laboratory procedures focused on the welfare of every animal involved in the process, including the surrogate female. We explain each stage before you make any decision.

It depends on each case and on the length of the pregnancy. We will give you personalised information.

It can be. Each case requires a specific assessment, which we carry out with you.
