Cat cloning

Science in service of a unique bond.

Cat cloning makes it possible to produce a new cat with the same nuclear genetic information as the original, using an advanced assisted reproduction technique.

When it may be an option

More than a technique: a carefully considered decision.

Cloning can be considered for cats of great emotional, genetic or breeding value, or when their cells have already been preserved.

How it's done

The cloning process.

An assisted reproduction technique that combines biotechnology with rigorous scientific control.

01

Donor cells. The process starts with your cat’s previously preserved cells.

02

Nuclear transfer. The nucleus of one of those cells is placed into an egg cell whose own nucleus has been removed.

03

Embryo development. The embryo is cultured in the laboratory under controlled conditions.

04

Pregnancy and birth. The embryo is transferred to a surrogate female cat, who carries the pregnancy to term.

An assessment for every cat

Before starting, we review with you the condition of the preserved cells, the conditions of the process and what you can expect in your particular case.

Your questions answered

Frequently asked questions about cat cloning

Yes. Cloning starts from viable cells from the cat. If you have not preserved them yet, that is the first step.

It will share the same nuclear genetic information, but not the original’s memories. Its character will also depend on its environment, and its coat pattern may vary.

It depends on each case. We will give you personalised information during the consultation.
