What it is
Same genetics, a new story.
Dog cloning uses your dog’s cells to produce a new animal with the same nuclear genetic information. You could compare it to an identical twin born at a different time.
The new dog will look very similar, but its character will be shaped by its own experiences, environment and upbringing.
The role of preserved cells
Cloning is only possible with viable cells from the dog. That is why genetic preservation is the first step: it stores those cells so that cloning remains possible later on.
How it's done
The cloning process.
An assisted reproduction technique that combines biotechnology with rigorous scientific control.
Donor cells. The process starts with your dog’s previously preserved cells.
Nuclear transfer. The nucleus of one of those cells is placed into an egg cell whose own nucleus has been removed.
Embryo development. The embryo is cultured in the laboratory under controlled conditions.
Pregnancy and birth. The embryo is transferred to a surrogate female dog, who carries the pregnancy to term.
In all honesty
What cloning can and cannot offer.
What it can offer
- A dog with the same nuclear genetic information as the original
- A physical resemblance that is usually very close
- The continuation of a valuable bloodline
What it cannot offer
- The original animal's memories or experiences
- An identical personality: environment and upbringing play a part
- A guaranteed result in every case
Animal welfare at every stage
We follow veterinary and laboratory procedures focused on the welfare of every animal involved in the process, including the surrogate female. We explain each stage before you make any decision.
Yes. Cloning starts from viable cells from the dog. If you have not preserved them yet, that is the first step.
It will share the same nuclear genetic information and will usually look very similar, but it will not have the original’s memories. Its character will also depend on its environment and upbringing.
It depends on each case. We will give you personalised information during the consultation.
Each case requires a specific assessment. We explain it in detail, with no obligation.
